Nisha Mailapur is a Junior majoring in Economics on the Pre-Medicine Track. She is an undergraduate researcher at the BAND lab and is a member of The SyBBURE Searle Undergraduate Research Program. Through food blogging and creating the College Eats and Beyond e-cookbook of simple, affordable recipes for college students, Nisha has always been empowered to learn more about food's impact on health. For her Immersion Project, she chose to explore the topic of Culinary Medicine to conduct evidence-based research on medically-tailored meals, food banks, and food insecurity under the guidance of Dr. Timothy Harlan, the Executive Director of the Health Meets Food curriculum, and Executive Chef Kerri Dotson. As an aspiring physician, Nisha has the goal of increasing awareness about the importance of how and what we eat in preventing and treating disease.
