Student's Bio
Linh Tran is currently a senior majoring in Neuroscience and Medicine, Health & Society (MHS). In the past, Linh conducted research pertaining to autophagy, a process by which cells degrade endogenous products and molecules harmful to their functioning. Linh's current research, conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Ruben Martinez-Barricarte at the VUMC, involves the study and identification of undiagnosed primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs), which are hereditary disorders that affect millions of people worldwide. The lab has identified mutations in candidate genes that may be responsible for these unknown PIDs. Linh plans to take a gap year before hopefully attending medical school.
