Dena Liu is a third-year student majoring in Medicine, Health & Society and Human & Organizational Development. She works in the Bonami Lab with her mentor Dr. Rachel H. Bonami to study the autoimmune disease, Jo-1 autoantibody-positive anti-tRNA synthetase syndrome (Jo-1-ARS). In her project, she investigated whether somatic B cell receptor (BCR) hypermutation was required for Jo-1 autoantigen recognition and classified its BCR genes mutations, and structures. After graduation, she plans to attend medical school and continue her research studies in immunology. In her free time, Dena likes to read, dance, ice skate, and hike.
