Student's Bio
Bryan Liu is a Junior majoring in Medicine, Health, and Society with the intent to pursue medicine after graduation. His work at the Magnuson Lab seeks to elucidate the developmental pathways of Sox17, an essential transcription factor for the formation of multiple organs. The project has two main goals: 1) to exhaustively identify cell types expressing Sox17 during early development, and 2) to define signature gene sets and/or molecular pathways that are critical along Sox17-expressing developmental trajectories. The Magnuson lab uses a combination of genetics, imaging and sequencing approaches to better understand and comprehensively characterize Sox17-expressing lineages at both tissue and single-cell level. In his free time, Bryan likes to tinker with computer hardware, learn video editing, and make YouTube videos.
